Barker Mill Apartment
London, 1992
The conversion of a 250m² apartment on the south bank of the River Thames, between Albert Bridge and Battersea Bridge.
The intervention opens up the north-south axis, flanked on one side by a long stretch of floating white wall through which the cityscape projects, uninterrupted from one end of the flat to the other. The furniture throughout the apartment is all one-off designs, as are all the fixtures and fittings.
The apartment is characterised by a seamless flow of space, outlined by massive, serene stone slabs.
